Julian, ehl,ahl and Tilburg

Last weekend was one that I will definitely never forget. Last Sunday was much different to my normal Sunday because it was the birth of my first child Julian Raymond Dwyer. It is an amazing feeling and all the cliches are definitely true. I am thrilled to bits and immediately want to alter everything in my life, from my daily schedule to my life insurance to better provide for my bundle of joy. We are over the moon. He was born at 17.37 and he weighed 3.53 kg’s. Both my wife and I are very, very proud and both mum and Julian are doing great.

Unfortunately I did not get to go to the EHL in Hamburg but we are through to the semi’s against Rotterdam which is in Rotterdam on the 30th-31st of June. In the other semi is Belgium team KHC Leuven against former champions the German UHC Hamburg. I’m looking forward to that weekend as this is my first EHL.

I also missed out on the AHL, which was in Tasmania,  and to be honest I really missed it. It would have been nice to play with my mates and younger cousin Matt Gohdes but just like the EHL I was busy with the birth of my child which I would not miss for the world. Once again my team the QLD Blades were in the final for the 8th year in a row. Unfortunately we lost the final to WA 2-1.

This weekend we played against Tilburg. Once again we didn’t play to our potential but we had a 2-1 win and three points in the pocket. We are now 4 points in front of Oranje Zwart with two games to go. The game started off pretty good and we had a two nil lead and then we stopped playing and Tilburg decided to take some more risks and we got away with a win. We need to start finding some form before the play-offs which are in three weeks time. I’m sure we can as we have the players to do it when we need it. I would rather play bad and win than play good and lose, I think its a sign of a good team. The disappointing thing is that we are not playing to our standard. Hopefully we will raise to the occasion which is just around the corner. We will soon find out.

Until next time.

Cheers Jamie
